YANG yoga focuses on developing muscular strength,

stamina, and flexibility, with "heat" related postures

While yin yoga is a slower practice where poses are

passively held longer, working on the deep, dense (Yin)

connective tissues and joints in the body.

Yin/Yang Yoga is a class that

blends two styles of yoga in one practice - combining the

benefits of passively holding yoga poses with more

dynamic sequences, to bring balance, flexibility and

strength in the body in one class.

Benefits of a regular Yin Yang Yoga practice

Yin Yoga

* Improves flexibility

* Calms and balances the mind and body

* Reduces stress

* Works deeply on the connective tissues

Yang Yoga

* Strengthens and tones the body

* Improves flexibility and circulation

* Increases stamina

* Calms the mind down by inviting us to synchronise

movement with breath

* Removes tension and obstacles in the body to allow

breath and prana to flow

The terms yin and yang are used within Taoist and Chinese

philosophy to describe how opposite forces are connected

and interdependent in the natural world.

Yin refers to

qualities that are slower and more passive,

while yang

refers to qualities that are more active and dynamic.

When the two forces of yin and yang are balanced there

will be vitality and wellbeing.
